10 Ways I Eat Vegan At Taco Bell

Posted by

As a vegan, I really appreciate fast-food restaurants that have options that suit my lifestyle. Me and my family travel a lot and when hunger strikes, making it to a grocery store to get salad fixings aren’t always an option. So, we have a few go-to fast-food places that we know will cater to our vegan needs. One of those restaurants that make it to the top of the list would definitely be Taco Bell, given all their many vegan-approved choices that makes it easy to build up the perfect satisfying meal in a hurry. The mexican eatery was one of my favorite go-to’s before I became vegan almost two years ago and as a vegan, it still reigns supreme (minus the sour cream). There are many ways to create the ideal vegan meal at TB but I have 10 top favorites that I’ve listed below for you to give a try. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or looking for meatless Monday options, Taco Bell has you covered.

Cheesy Bean And Rice Burrito

The cheesy bean and rice burrito at Taco Bell comes with refried beans, seasoned rice, cheese sauce, and creamy jalapeno sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla. To veganize this burrito, ask for no cheese sauce and no creamy jalapeno sauce. Now, you have a yummy bean and rice burrito that is 100% vegan approved.

Potato Soft Taco

The potato soft taco originally comes with crispy seasoned potatoes, shredded lettuce, chipotle sauce, and shredded cheddar cheese in a flour tortilla. Ask for no chipotle sauce or shredded cheese to make this taco vegan. This is one of my favorite items to make Fresco Style. You can order ANY item Fresco-style at taco bell, and they will replace the cheese, creamy sauces, sour cream, and/or guacamole with pico de gallo.

My Favorite Add Ons:

extra potatoes

Bean Burrito

A bean burrito from Taco Bell comes with refried beans, cheese, onions, and mild sauce. As for no cheese to make this menu item vegan. Ask for it to be grilled for a an even more tastier option.

Triple Layer Nachos

Triple layer nachos come with refried beans, nacho cheese sauce and red sauce. To veganize this item ask for no cheese sauce ( I personally ask for no red sauce too because I prefer diablo). Adding lettuce, guacamole and a few other toppings turns these nachos into a delicious filling meal.

Crunchy Tacos

Crunchy tacos at taco bell typically come with beef, cheese, and lettuce. To make these tacos vegan, replace the beef with refried (or black) beans and ask for no cheese. These made fresco style are a great way to enhance the flavor and health benefits.

Crunchwrap Supreme

A crunchwrap supreme comes with beef, nacho cheese sauce, tomatoes, sour cream, and a tostada shell wrapped tightly in a flour tortilla, then grilled. Replace the beef with black or refried beans, ask for no cheese sauce and sour cream to make this menu item vegan friendly.

Tostada

The tostada features refried beans, red sauce, creamy chipotle sauce, shredded lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and tomatoes. Ask for no chipotle sauce or cheese to make this item vegan.

Seven Layer Burrito

The SevenLayer Burrito contains refried beans, rice, guacamole, shredded lettuce, a three-cheese blend, diced tomatoes, and reduced fat sour cream. Ditch the shredded cheese, and sour cream for a seriously good and filling burrito.

Double Decker Taco

The double decker taco is a traditional beef, cheese, and lettuce filled crunchy taco with a tortilla secured to the outside with a layer of refried beans. Replace the beef for black or refried beans and ask for no cheese to turn this menu item into a vegan friendly taco.

Black Beans And Rice

The black beans and rice is one of the easiest things to order off the menu and requires no modification. Top it off with some guacamole and order up a side of chips and salsa to really make it a more filling meal.
