2019 is a record breaking year for Ariana Grande — just last week, Grande became the first artist since the Beatles to have three songs in the top three spots of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. And now… Grande has become the most followed woman on Instagram, taking the crown from the former most followed woman, Selena Gomez. At the time of writing this, Grande sits at 1146, 492,021 followers, while Gomez has 146,348,411 followers.
Ariana is the second most-followed person following behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who knocked Gomez out of the top spot in October and sits at an impressive 156,044,322 followers.
Gomez losing her top spot possibly happened due to her long break from social media back in September 2018 — and not coming back to the platform until Jan. 14 this year. “As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given,” Gomez wrote at the time of her departure.
Big congrats to Ariana!
