Ariana Grande celebrated Aretha Franklin on Friday by performing “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” during her funeral at the Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. Grande’s fiance, Pete Davidson proudly watched her performance from the audience.
Grande wore a black mini dress to the event and rocked her signature high pony look. “She’s an icon herself!” the Bishop Charles H. Ellis III said of Grande, after joking that he first assumed her name was a new addition to Taco Bell’s menu.
After the “God is A Woman” singer finished her performance, she said into the microphone, “We love you, Aretha!” Ariana was joined by many other star studded performances which included Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Shirley Caesar, Chaka Khan, Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
Gwendolyn Quinn, a Franklin family spokeswoman, previously told the Free Press of Grande, “Aretha was fond of her.”
