Demi Lovato just reached her 90 day sobriety milestone, according to the singer’s mother, Dianna De La Garza. During an appearance on Maria Menounos‘ Sirius XM show on Friday, Demi’s mother said: “Yes, she has 90 days and I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work.”
She went on to say: “It’s very hard. It’s not easy, and there are no shortcuts.”
Garza couldn’t pin point what lead to her daughter’s relapse. “I knew that she wasn’t sober,” she said of Demi, who apologized for not being sober in her single “Sober”.
“I didn’t know what she was doing because she doesn’t live with me and she’s 26.”
“I just knew she wasn’t sober and that’s all I really knew at that time,” she said.
After getting a call from her daughter’s assistant, La Garza rushed to the hospital with her oldest child, Dallas. “It was a rough two days,” she recalled.
In August, Demi shared a message to all her followers saying: “I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery,” she wrote on Instagram. “The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
We’re rooting for you Demi!
