Even though it premiered 25 years ago, Friends is still one of the most popular sitcoms on TV to date. Although the show was very successful, some of Jennifer Aniston’s family didn’t think she would make any money from it. In this week’s issue of People, available December 6, the actress talked about the haters and how she proved them all wrong.
When the opportunity came about for Aniston to star in Friends, there was no guarantee it would be successful. Aniston’s family doubted Jenn’s success from the beginning. The actress recalled “if there were any naysayers,” they would say, “This will never… you’ll never make a dime.”
“Just watch me,” she said. “Don’t threaten me that way. God knows now I’m going to make a couple of dimes.”
She ignored the negative words from her family and began “getting honest with myself in terms of my relationship with my family.” She said by “speaking my truth to them without fear.” That confidence helped her gain a very successful acting career in her 20’s.
Obviously, things worked out in Aniston’s favor, and the show is still a HUGE success.
