John Legend has worked with former film producer Harvey Weinstein in the past, and fans got mad at the fact that the singer never denounced him like he done to R. Kelly in Surviving R. Kelly, a docuseries about Kelly’s alleged crimes against multiple victims.
In the documentary, Legend admits that Kelly is talented but denounced him for his disgraceful actions toward young women. “R. Kelly’s brought a lot of pain to so many people. Time’s up for R. Kelly,” he said.
Some fans thought John was being hypocritical for not taking the same action with Weinstein. One person tweeted a picture of the former producer standing alongside a smiling Legend and his wife, writing, “johnlegend, please explain?? I don’t remember you publicly denouncing this man!!! @cthagod.”

Responding back, Legend wrote, “I took a photo with him and worked with Weinstein on several occasions before his abuse became known to me and the world. Since being exposed, his company and career have been destroyed, and he has been indicted – something that should happen to R Kelly.”
When the “Ordinary People” singer was called brave for speaking out against Kelly, he said, “I believe these women and don’t give a f**k about protecting a serial child rapist. Easy decision.”
