Yahoo sat down with Kevin Durant about his injury he sustained in the NBA Finals game 5.
The star forward was quick to defend the Warriors after many rumors came out about him possibly being rushed back before he was ready to play.
When asked if he felt he was rushed back before being ready Durant responded:
“Hell, no. How can you blame? Hell, no,” Durant said. “I heard the Warriors pressured me into getting back. Nobody never said a word to me during rehab as I was coming back. It was only me and Rick working out every day. Right when the series started, I targeted Game 5. Hell, nah. It just happened. It’s basketball.”
Warriors seem to share the same respect for Durant announcing no Warriors player will ever wear Kevin Durant’s jersey number in their franchise.
“I never wanted to disrespect the game by putting my focus on the future,”
Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets this offseason on the first day of free agency.
“It was always about that day, focusing on that day and what was most important that day. And throughout the season, basketball is the No. 1 thing.”
Durant will have to sit this season out and will likely make his return in the 2020-21 NBA season.
