Jersey Shore’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has been sentenced to prison for tax evasion.
The reality tv star appeared in front of a New Jersey federal court on Friday and was handed down a sentence of eight months in prison along with two years of supervised leave.
He will also have to pay a fine of $10,000 within the next 30 days and complete 500 hours of community service.
Sorrentino starred on the MTV series Jersey Shore from 2009 to 2012. He also made an appearance on the spinoff, “Jersey Shore Family Vacation”.
Despite the events he is also set to be married to his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce. A statement was released about the courts decision “Michael accepts the Court’s judgment. He is looking forward to marrying his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, next month, and moving forward together after he serves his sentence.”
Joined along side him was fellow costars Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Vinny Guadagnino who sat in the courtroom during the proceedings.
Sorrentino and his brother Marc were indicted back in 2014 for tax offenses and conspiring to defraud the United States. Both brothers failed to properly pay taxes on $8.9 million in income from 2010 to 2012.
The reality star proposed to Pesce on an episode of Jersey Shore Family Vacation. The star told his wife to be “I fell in love with you because you loved me when I couldn’t even love myself.”
