Museum Of Natural History Removes Teddy Roosevelt Statue

The American Museum of Natural History has decided to remove the Teddy Roosevelt Statue.

Many people believe this is the first sign of oppression.

The concept behind doing this follows problematic occasions in the US that linked those leaders to slavery.

Roosevelt is on a horse in the statue next to a Native American male and another male that is African American.

They put the statue on display in the front of the entrance up until today.

“The American Museum of Natural History has asked to remove the Theodore Roosevelt statue because it explicitly depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement. “The City supports the Museum’s request. It is the right decision and the right time to remove this problematic statue.” de Blasio said.

This is considered a step forward for the museum after witnessing the statue be vandalized for several years.
