As a vegan, I must say, Taco Bell is one of the easiest places to get a tasty vegan dish when you are on the road and need a quick meal on-the-go. Bean burritos, cheesy bean and rice burritos, nachos, and even tacos can all be turned vegan with a few minor adjustments. Now, taco bell is making it even easier to order food for vegetarians and vegans by offering up a vegetarian menu. Back in January, Taco Bell announced that it would test its first vegetarian menu, to be released in in 2019. Now, we can get a glimpse of what those dishes are.
Adding on to Taco Bell’s already meat-free menu items will be the vegetarian menu dishes that include a Vegetarian Crunchwrap Supreme that substitutes black beans for meat, a Vegetarian Quesarito that also includes black beans, and the 7-Layer Burrito.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, about 9% of meals ordered from Taco Bell are vegetarian, with the black bean burrito ranking as the second most popular item ordered nationwide, behind the crunchy taco, of coarse. All ingredients on the new vegetarian section are certified by the American Vegetarian Association. The move for the fast-food chain makes total sense given their many meat-free options that have been enjoyed by vegetarians and vegans for years now.
