Kylie Jenner threw a Handmaid’s Tale-themed party over the weekend and got major critisism for it. The latest person to come forth and express their dislike toward the bash, the shows star, Bradley Whitford.
The actor appeared on Tuesday’s episode of CBS The Talk, where he spoke on all the critics questioning Jenner and her party guests for not paying attention to the struggle of Margaret Atwood’s story.
“I don’t know … seems a little tacky,” said Whitford. “You know, that costume is so kind of iconic, and it’s interesting how it’s changed from initially a sort of symbol of oppression to now, as the show is moving ahead, to a symbol of resistance. So, yeah, a cocktail party seems to sort of dash all that significance.”
Jenner shared photos on her Instagram story of the bash over the weekend, which she threw at her home for her best friend Anastasia Stassie Karanikolaou’s birthday.
The photos showed Kylie and her guest wearing matching handmaid costumes as they enjoyed cocktails that were named “praise be vodka” and “under his eye tequila”. The themed bash recieved much backlash, with many saying the makeup mogul did not understand the meaning behind The Haindmaid’s Tale.
