Toddler Shredded $1,060 In Cash — Yikes!

Posted by

Salt Lake City couple, Jackee and Ben Belnap was saving up their money to pay Ben’s dad back for University of Utah football season tickets. They managed to save $1,060 in cash, but unfortunately the money got shredded into little pieces after being added to a shredder y their 2-year-old son Leo — yikes!

“So me and my wife had been saving up to pay for our tickets in cash. We pulled our money out yesterday to pay my mom for the season… Well we couldn’t find the envelope until my wife checked the shredder. Yup. 2 year old shredded $1,060.”

Such a situation would make anyone upset, but the Belnap’s were totally understanding and kept their cool about the whole thing.

Leo had no idea he did anything wrong,” Jackee told CBS, “It felt unfair to get mad, and he probably doesn’t even know what cash is as we use our credit card for almost everything.”

Luckily, not all is lost — In a follow-up tweet, Ben wrote, “Actually, I talked with a guy in the treasury department in DC. He thinks they maybe can recover some (or all) of it.” — whew!
