Wisconsin couple April and Maxamillian Neubauer had a rough time when delivering their daughter. April had pre-eclampsia, and high blood pressure, leading to a seizure, which resulted in an emergency C-section.
When their daughter, Rosalie was born on June 26, April experienced yet another seizure and was taken away for treatment, unable to see her baby.
Rosalie, who was born at 7lb 150z, was handed off to her dad, Maxamillian. “Due to complications during Aprils emergency c-section. This super rad nurse made a epically killer offer, and I was fortunate enough to slap on a suction cup fake nipple. Being the first to breast feed da baby!!!! “I did it for the moms” Eat your heart out!!
When the nurse approached the new dad asking an unsuspected question he couldn’t pass up the opportunity and agreed to try ‘breastfeeding’ his little girl.
“The nurse said we needed to get her a little formula and do some finger feeding, just something to get her started. Then the nurse asked if maybe I would like to throw a nipple on and do some real breastfeeding. Me being a big joker with the ability to try just about anything once, I said sure, why not,” Maxamillian told BBC.
The dad attached the plastic nipple shield that was hooked up to formula onto his chest, “I’ve never breastfed or even thought in a thousand years I would. I was the first to breast feed the baby!”
The dad has gotten much positive feedback for coming through and feeding his newborn daughter when the mom couldn’t. However, there were a few that found it a bit odd, with some saying he should of used a bottle instead. Nonetheless, Maxamillian is just happy he could provide for his baby and try something new.
